CVC have returned with a new single, Bonnie & Clyde.
Blending elements of soul, electro and disco, the infectious synth-pop track is fronted by singer Francesco ‘Cesc’ Orsi and marks the first material from a run of double A-side singles to come from the South Wales six-piece this spring and summer.
It follows last September's single, The Lowrider (Just About Meant To Be), led by the vocal talents of guitarist David Bassey, which marked the band's first new music since their 2023 Welsh Music Prize-nominated debut album, 'Get Real'. Orsi commented:
"The music for Bonnie & Clyde was originally constructed as a theme song for a CVC original film. I found inspiration for the lyrics after watching the film ‘Queen & Slim’. The song centres around two characters who are willing to risk it all for the love they share. We used synthesisers to form the engine of the song, chasing the feeling of haste and anxious anticipation, as if being in a car chase."
Having just wrapped up a short tour supporting Independent Venue Week, the group have scheduled a run of UK shows for the spring, which includes back-to-back shows at London’s Oslo on April 4 and 5.
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 21), the same day they play Aberystwyth's Trawsnewid Festival.
