Suede have announced their 10th studio album.
The follow-up to 2022's 'Autofiction' is titled 'Antidepressants' and will arrive on September 5 via BMG. Recorded live with long-time producer Ed Buller, it showcases frontman Brett Anderson's most personal songwriting to date, marking a notable departure from the punk-inspired sound of its predecessor. Anderson said:
"If 'Autofiction' was our punk record, 'Antidepressants' is our post-punk record. It’s about the tensions of modern life, the paranoia, the anxiety, the neurosis. We are all striving for connection in a disconnected world. This was the feel I wanted the songs to have. The album is called 'Antidepressants'. This is broken music for broken people."
Following last week's teasing live performance video for the title track, captured during their show at London's Alexandra Palace last summer, the band have shared the album's urgent first single, Disintegrate, which serves up a more raw, unembellished approach. Head below to view the accompanying black and white video, directed by Chris Turner.
Suede will accompany the record's release with a takeover of London's Southbank Centre, beginning with two shows at the Royal Festival Hall on September 13 and 14. Following that, the band will play an intimate off-mic performance at the Purcell Room on September 17, before closing the residency with their first full orchestral show with the Paraorchestra at Queen Elizabeth Hall on September 19.
Anderson added: "Expect old songs, new songs, borrowed songs, blue songs, drama, melody, noise, sweat and a couple of surprises."
Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (May 23).
