Blood Orange has returned with his first new song in three years.
Dev Hynes joins forces with The Durutti Column, Tariq Al-Sabir, Caroline Polachek and Daniel Caesar on The Field, which is propelled by skittering beats, acoustic guitar, atmospheric keys and strings, and captivating falsetto vocals.
Hynes produced the track, as well as directing and editing its accompanying video starring Naomi Scott and Jordan Spence. Introducing it on Instagram, he said:
"My new song & video “The Field” is out now. Thank you to my wonderful friends that helped me get this over the line. Not just musically or with the video. A year ago I was lost and overcome with grief, and did not see a way forward in creating. So thank you to everyone that got me over the finish line. Tagging all I can think of."
The Field is Hynes' first new music under his Blood Orange moniker since the release of his 'Four Songs' EP back in 2022. Since then, he's been busy working with other artists and productions, including both film and theatre.
He recently appeared on the track Seein' Stars alongside Paramore's Hayley Williams, taken from Turnstile's new album 'Never Enough', which came out earlier in June. He'll support the Baltimore band on their North American tour this fall. Get tickets here.
