Sam Ryder has laid out plans for his sophomore album.
'Heartland', the follow-up to his 2022 debut 'There’s Nothing But Space, Man!', will arrive on October 17 via independent label Artist Theory.
Over the past year, Sam has been living part-time in Nashville, where he embarked on a journey of self-discovery, reshaping his sound, which he now describes as "Frontier Soul", an energy that blends lifelong influences such as classic westerns he watched with his grandfather, Hollywood scores, and soul music. He explained:
"This record is a collection of songs attempting to convey the feeling of the last couple of years. The wish is to find a connection with you no matter where you are in the world, whether it’s flying high or feeling like you’re the only ship out on the ocean. If you’re navigating the pain of forgiveness and the weight that comes with holding onto resentment, if you’ve lost confidence in yourself and you’re trying to find a way back to your spark, spirit and hope, this is for you. Take to the Heartland. I’m with you every step."
To coincide with the announcement, the singer-songwriter has shared a new single, The Feeling Never Went Away, which serves up his trademark heartfelt, soulful pop sound, with rich, emotional vocals and uplifting instrumentation. The record will also include his three spring singles; OH OK, Armour, and White Lies.
The Eurovision star will play his biggest headline show to date at London's OVO Arena Wembley on November 6. Before that, he'll support McFly at Dreamland Margate tonight (August 1), and at Norwich's Earlham Park as part of the Rock n Roll Circus series on August 14, before a show at Wild Live at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on August 30. Tickets are on sale now.
