Soulfly Announce New Album 'Chama' With Lead Single Storm The Gates

Soulfly have announced their 13th studio album.
The follow-up to 2022's 'Totem' is titled 'Chama' and will arrive on October 24 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Led by the legendary Max Cavalera, the Brazilian metal heavyweights recorded the album at the Platinum Underground Studio in Mesa, Arizona, with John Aquilino at the helm. Joining Cavalera in the current line-up are his two sons, Igor Amadeus on bass, and drummer Zyon, who co-produced the album, as well as guitarist Mike De Leon. The record also features Dino Cazares of Fear Factory on one of the tracks.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared the record's lead single, Storm The Gates, which is driven by their signature tribal nu-groove rhythms and frontman Cavalera's fierce vocal attack. He said:
"Chama is the Brazilian word for flame. It also means a 'calling'. Respect to Alex Pereira for using Itsari on his UFC walkouts. Chama is inspired by the energy of this moment. This record is the sound of Soulfly’s fire! I cannot wait to play these songs live for the Tribe! Chama!"
Zyon added: "With each Soulfly record I’ve played on, I can feel my evolution happening in real time. This record was no different as I got to handle a good amount of the production for the first time. Trying to take the band to places we have never been before was a blast and I look forward to more production work in the future!"
Soulfly have an Australian tour scheduled for January, featuring support from Cavalera's '90s side project Nailbomb, and Snot. Tickets are on sale now.
