Matt Pryor of The Get Up Kids has announced a new solo album.

'The Salton Sea' will arrive through Nightshoes Syndicate on November 14. Self-produced, with mixing and additional production by Peter Katis, its 10 tracks were influenced by a turbulent period in Pryor's life, when a once-casual habit of drinking spiralled into a full-on dependency. He explained:

"The story that these songs tell is about that time in my life. Autumn rolling into spring because the winter was a blackout. How the good times were great until one day they weren’t. How I lost myself and hurt people that I care about. How I got help that didn’t stick and how I lost faith in the help that did. That I came out on the other side of the whole ordeal only to realize I am still a work in progress, that we all are."

Alongside the announcement, Pryor has shared the record's title track and opening song, which sets the tone with an emotive alt-rock sound, leaning into '90s indie Americana influences. Head below to view the accompanying video, directed by Josh Berwanger.

"Three years ago I was in the darkest place of my life and this song really reflects that time," Pryor admitted. "I was lost, alone, and felt forgotten–I just wanted to disappear. I started writing stories about that time in my life, and those stories became songs, and those songs became The Salton Sea."

The Get Up Kids will celebrate 25 years of their 1999 album 'Something To Write Home About' with Australian shows later this month. Tickets are on sale now.
