Mavis Staples Shares Title Track Of Upcoming Album 'Sad And Beautiful World'

Mavis Staples has shared the title track of her upcoming 14th album.
Written by late American singer-songwriter Mark Linkous (aka Sparklehorse), the eponymous track for 'Sad And Beautiful World' finds the Chicago soul legend delivering heartfelt vocals over a slow, haunting rhythm.
Produced by Brad Cook, the album will arrive on November 7 and features reimagined classics and new material, with contributions from long-time collaborators and friends, including Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Jeff Tweedy, MJ Lenderman, and Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver).
The multi-Grammy Award-winner introduced the record alongside the release of her version of Kevin Morby's Beautiful Strangers last month. It'll also feature her cover of Frank Ocean's Godspeed featuring spoken word vocals by Kara Jackson, which dropped back in June.
Staples has short runs of US shows lined up this fall and in early 2026. Head below for dates. Tickets are on sale now.
