Tom Smith has released another preview of his debut solo album.
Leaning into atmospheric, melancholic pop, Leave comes with a video directed by James Lockey that was filmed in the wooded grounds of Wentworth Woodhouse, a stately home in South Yorkshire. Smith said:
"We went on a bit of a journey with that one. It’s a bit of a breakup song in some ways. There’s a conflict in this song, but there’s also a resolution. There’s an acceptance that things are going to turn around again. It’s probably the closest this record has to a pop song in some ways – if you can say that."
Following Life Is For Living and Lights Of New York City, it offers a further glimpse into 'There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn’t There In The Light', due out on December 5 via Play It Again Sam.
Smith is currently amid a run of shows at theatres, town halls and churches across the UK and Ireland, which continues with a performance in Todmorden, West Yorkshire tonight (October 1).
