Babyshambles have shared a new single, Dandy Hooligan.
Released via Peter Doherty's Strap Originals label, the breezy ska-pop track serves up a Caribbean-infused aesthetic built on a laid-back reggae groove, and marks the reunited indie-rock band's first new music in 12 years.
Recorded in Normandy and Manchester earlier this month, and produced by Mike Moore with mixing by Ross Orton, the song is inspired by the adventures of Bob Morris, a long-time friend of the four-piece and veteran of the anti-Nazi movement. Doherty said:
"It’s a well turned-out, elegantly crafted; reggae-ska-pop song… with a sweet melody to bowl along to with your sharpened walking cane…. Word from the ‘shambles camp is that it’s a homage to a legendary National Front basher."

Doherty's post-Libertines band will embark on their previously announced Dandy Hooligan Tour next week, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, 'Down In Albion'. Tickets are on sale now.
To celebrate the milestone, Babyshambles will release an expanded and remastered version of the record through Rough Trade Records on December 12, featuring session tracks, rarities and b-sides.
They released their latest album, 'Sequel To The Prequel', in 2013, while The Libertines put out their latest album, 'All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade', in 2024. Doherty also released his first solo album in nine years, 'Felt Better Alive', this May.
