Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have returned with a new song, Sunburned In London.
Released via I Oh You, the six-minute track pairs Tom Russo's emotive vocals with layered guitars and a steady groove, marking the Melbourne quintet's first new music in four years. Commenting on how the song came together, Russo explained:
"As a band, we have always made songs about cities. I was thinking about sensory overload and relentless beauty, and the creeping feeling in the streets that the party’s winding up and the lights are about to come on."
Alongside the new track, the band have shared a live performance video filmed at Melbourne's Northcote Theatre, featuring backing vocals and keys from Stella Donnelly, Sophie Ozard and Julia Wallace.
For now, it's unknown whether the song signals a follow-up to the band's most recent album, 2022's 'Endless Rooms'.
Having recently played a sold-out comeback show in Thornbury Bowls Club in Victoria, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have scheduled a hometown performance at the Northcote Theatre on February 17, with $10 tickets on general sale at 12pm local time on Friday (February 6). They'll also play Nice Day To Go To The Club at Port Noarlunga Football Club on February 28. Head here for details.
