The Afghan Whigs will release a new album later this summer.

The follow-up to 2022's 'How Do You Burn?' is called 'Soft Control' and will arrive on August 21 via Royal Cream/BMG.

It was recorded across the United States — at Fireside Sound in Joshua Tree, Marigny Studios in New Orleans, Gold Diggers Sound in East Hollywood and Sycamore in Cincinnati — and features cameos from former Afghan Whigs drummer Patrick Keeler, vocalist-violist Petra Haden, and musician and producer Bo Koster of My Morning Jacket, among others.

Explaining how the album saw him evolve into a less volatile and more self-aware person, band leader Greg Dulli said:

“I've worked hard on my inner peace. I was an angry young man, and it fueled my art, ambition and my drive. I wouldn’t change anything because I can’t.  But as I got into photography and other art forms, I realized that I’m not in competition with anyone – including myself. Now, I know what I’m doing and there’s a quiet confidence that comes with being able to back it up.”

As a preview, the American band have shared the single Jungle Roux, an eclectic, earworm rock track. Check it out below alongside the cover art and tracklist, which includes their previously shared songs House Of I and Duvateen.

They'll support the new record with a UK and European tour throughout October and November, with support from Ed Harcourt, and a North American tour in November, with Night Moves opening.

Tickets for the UK are on sale now. Tickets for Europe and North America go on general sale at 10am local time this Friday (June 5).
