The Tubs Announce Third Album 'Hard Life' With Lead Single Who's Gonna Love You Now

The Tubs have laid out plans for their third album.
Following their spring cover of Metallica's Fade To Black and news of their signing to Merge Records, the London-based Celtic four-piece have revealed they'll release 'Hard Life' on September 11, following last year's 'Cotton Crown'.
It’ll feature contributions from longtime collaborators Lan McArdle (vocals), George Nicholls (guitar) and Rachel Kenedy (keyboards), all of whom have played in various Tubs-related projects over the years dating back to Joanna Gruesome, along with fiddle player Chris Haigh.
The record is previewed by the lead single Who's Gonna Love You Now?, which delivers the type of jangly guitar-pop earworm for which they've become known. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Owen Williams said:
"This is a sort of Northern Soul, Royal Headache influenced pop number with organs. The lyrics are from my scold persona - it’s a kind of anti-sexual freedom, pro-monogamy song. I sermonise that the other Owen will end up lonely and unhappy if he takes a grass is greener approach to life, moves to London and so on. I think the scold doesn’t live in London. Whereas I and the classic Tubs persona do."
The Tubs will support The Wedding Present at the Brighton festival At The Edge Of The Sea in August, followed by an appearance at Green Man Festival and a UK tour in September and October. They'll then head to North America and Europe for further dates later in the autumn. Tickets for their UK and European shows are on sale now, while their new North American dates go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (June 26).
