Bloc Party Share Final Single Lagoon Blue Ahead Of 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance' Release

Bloc Party have shared a final early single ahead of the release of their new album. 

Dreamy and atmospheric, Lagoon Blue blends indie-rock and dream-pop elements. It was the first song written for 'Anatomy Of A Brief Romance', while frontman Kele Okereke was falling in love. However, the relationship later fell apart, leaving him heartbroken. He explained:

"The song is about feeling like love had come back into my life, when I didn't think that was going to be possible. So it was a really joyous song for me. But I felt I couldn't sing it every night, knowing what I know now. The only way to make it work was to tell the whole story of our relationship, where ‘Lagoon Blue’ is only a beat of it, not the whole story."

If the track sounds familiar, it's because it's a reworked version of Blue, which appeared on Bloc Party's 2023 EP 'The High Life'.

The British indie giants previously teased the follow-up to 2022's 'Alpha Games', due out this Friday (September 11), with the singles Pigwig, Now We Can't Be Friends, Love Bombs and Coming On Strong.

The band will celebrate the record with a run of special intimate shows at UK record stores starting this week. Later in the year, they'll co-headline a winter UK and European tour with Interpol. Tickets are on sale now.
