De La Soul are an American hip-hop group from Long Island, New York, consisting of Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo and have performed their brand jazzy, melodic, and irresistibly smooth hip-hop across the globe.
Formed in 1987, whilst the trio were at school, they produced a demo of Plug Tunin, which caught the attention of producer Prince Paul. The group released their debut album, ‘3 Feet High and Rising’ in 1989, which was a commercial success, and spawned the single Me Myself and I. The group went on to release a further seven albums, including ‘De La Soul Is Dead’, in 1991, and ‘Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump’, in 2000. In 2006 they won a Grammy for their collaboration with Gorillaz on the single Feel Good Inc. The group released their ninth album, ‘And the Anonymous Nobody’, in August 2016 via A.O.I. Records.
The group have headlined their own shows and tours across the USA and UK. In the summer of 2002 they toured with Cake, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, Kinky, and the Hackensaw Boys as part of the Unlimited Sunshine Tour. In 2008 they joined the likes of A Tribe Called Quest, Nas and The Pharcyde on the annual Rock the Bells tour. In 2014 they hit the UK as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations.
De La Soul will perform at London's Somerset House as part of the Summer Series there this July. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
