The Monkees, the original boyband now composed of featuring Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, but which originally featured the late Davy Jones and Michael Nesmith, too.
Having sold over 50 million records and in their hayday, the Monkees provided the soundtrack to teenage lives on both sides of the Atlantic. Initially created for a television show about a band who wanted to be, but never reached the success of the Beatles, The Monkees ironically grew to be so popular they progressed into a hugely successful pop group with fans such as John Lennon describing them as 'the Marx Brother of Rock'.
During their peak, The Monkees even outsold both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones combined! They've toured the world and were the original band that has inspired groups such as The Backstreet Boys, Take That, Boyzone and JLS when The Monkees.
They put out their debut self titled album in 1966, and released ten more before the turn of the century, with 'Justus' landing in 1996.
The band celebrated their 50th anniversary with their first new album in 20 years, 'Good Times', and a North America and Australia tour back in late spring 2016. They also released 'Christmas Party' in 2018, and now they're back again with US dates in March and June 2019.
