Catfish and the Bottlemen are a Welsh indie rock band from Llandudno, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Van McCann, guitarist Johnny ‘Bondy’ Bond, bassist Benji Blakeway and drummer Bob Hall.
Formed in 2007, the band made a name for themselves thanks to non-stop gigging, performing over 100 gigs in 18 months throughout 2012 and 2013. Soon after they earned themselves a deal with Island Records, who released the band’s debut album, 'The Balcony', in 2014. The album reached #10 in the UK Album Chart and the band went on to tour extensively through the winter months. The band won Best Breakthrough Artist at the Brit Awards in 2016 and released their second album, ‘The Ride’, in May 2016, which hit #1 in the UK Albums Chart. Their latest was 2019's 'The Balance'. The last few years have been busy for the band, having played hoards of headline shows and festival appearances, including headline slots at All Points East, TRNSMT, Citadel, Glasgow Summer Sessions, Newcastle's Spillers Wharf and Cardiff Castle, alongside extensively touring the UK, Europe and the US. Catfish and the Bottlemen have rescheduled their headline show at Swansea's Singleton Park to May 2021 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
