Biohazard, Young Guns and Skindred are among the 43 newest additions to this year’s Download Festival in June. These latest confirmations will join previously-announced acts such as headliners System of a Down, Linkin Park and Def Leppard, as well as The Darkness, Pendulum and Alice Cooper. Other new additions to the Donington rock event include Children of Bodom, Anti-Flag, Sevendust, CKY, letlive and comedian Al Murray’s band T-34.

Evanescence have announced that they will be entering the studio this week to begin the follow-up to their 2006 release, ‘The Open Door’. The band began sessions on the release as early as February last year, working with English producer Steve Lillywhite. However, the album’s production was put into question when the band abandoned the recording, citing problems with their label as the main cause.

Pete Tong has defended major labels, stating that big corporations are necessary to facilitate the level of fame reached by ‘superstar’ artists such as Lady Gaga. In a recent interview, the legendary DJ stated that although modern social networking services have made big labels redundant as “gatekeepers” to success, he believes that they are still extremely relevant when it comes to big-name artists.
