Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye West Dominate MTV VMA Nominations

Katy Perry, Adele and Kanye West are frontrunners for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards after the official nominations were revealed last night (June 20th). Katy Perry leads the field with an impressive nine nominations, while Adele earns seven nods for the ceremony which will take place at Los Angeles's Nokia Theatre on August 28th.

Kanye West has picked up five nominations (including ‘Best Male Video’), while Lady Gaga, Eminem and Beyonce are each up for three awards.

Californian fresh faces Foster The People are up for two nominations, earning nods in the ‘Best Rock Video’ and ‘Best New Artist’ categories for their single 'Pumped Up Kicks'. Other surprise entrants include controversy magnet Tyler, The Creator (‘Video of the Year’), Cage The Elephant, The Black Keys (‘Best Rock Video’) and Pitbull (‘Best Pop Video’).
