Biffy Clyro: 'We're Writing Music That We're Comfortable With'

Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro have made it clear to fans that their new album won’t see them straying too far from their usual alternative rock sound, after fans became concerned at their announcement that they’d be writing songs in a different manner.

The band are currently penning and recording songs for their currently untitled sixth studio album, the follow up to 2009’s ‘Only Revelations’. But after telling fans that they’d be writing songs in a ‘different manner’ last year, they’ve come forward to say that there won’t be any changes in genre – and they’ll only be writing music they’re ‘comfortable with’.

“We're just investigating and experimenting with what we feel comfortable doing,” vocalist Simon Neil told BBC Radio 1. “We haven't got any reggae songs or dubstep. There are a couple of songs that are written entirely on keyboards, string sounds, and I guess Phil Collins-type electro beats behind it.”

The new LP is set to be a double album, which means fans have twice as much new material to look forward to – and now they can wait in peace after worrying about what style their favourites would be putting out. It’s set for a release in April.

Biffy Clyro have a number of UK Festival dates lined-up, including Download Festival and Isle of Wight Festival. If you want to buy tickets to any festivals with BC on the bill, you can check which events have on-sale tickets below.
