'We Took Our Success For Granted', Say McFly

Pop-rock boy-band McFly have confessed that they ‘took their success for granted’ before releasing their 2010 album ‘Above the Noise’.

Although they managed to get the record to #20 in the charts and score a #4 hit with ‘Shine a Light’, the boys think they spent too much time out of the public domain before the release of the album, and struggled to get people involved with the band again. But luckily, says Harry Judd, they managed to keep their fans interested enough to tour again.

“We did an album in 2010, but we had a long gap between album four and five,” Judd told Digital Spy. “We'd been going for six or seven years; it took a year and a half to make it, and we didn't do any publicity during that time. I think we realised how hard it was to get people interested again.

“I think we'd taken our success for granted. Thankfully the album went well and we had a big hit with 'Shine a Light', which meant we could go on tour again. At the same time though, other bands were coming through and it's hard to stay relevant.”

Judd was then asked whether he and the rest of the boys had ever considered parting ways – to which he replied: “No, definitely not, unless there's something they're not telling me! I think we have something unique in the four of us. We're still going strong and we're still great mates. We hope we can still have success that allows us to release music and tour.”
