The Rolling Stones star Mick Jagger has confirmed that he and his band won’t be performing at this year’s Coachella Festival, quashing the strong rumours that have been floating around.
There’s been a lot of talk that The Rolling Stones will hit the road this year, and the Glastonbury and Coachella Festivals seemed to be two of the favourites amongst speculators. But now, Jagger has shot down those hoping to catch the band at the Californian festival, admitting that it’s too soon in the year and that the band wouldn’t be ready by the time it rolls around.
Speaking to NME, the star explained: “We're not gonna do Coachella, 'cos it's too early. There was a rumour we were gonna do that one, but it's very early, Coachella. It's April or something, isn’t it? And we're not gonna be ready to go by April. But we're not gonna stop.”
The comments do contradict stories that flew around in December, though, after a Rolling Stones mobile app listed the band as performing in Indio, California on April 12th - the date and location of the first week of Coachella 2013. We’ll have to play the waiting game - our least favourite game ever - to find out when and where The Rolling Stones will definitely be playing this year.
