Sleaford Mods Drop Video For New Single Kebab Spider

Monday, 07 January 2019 Written by Laura Johnson

Sleaford Mods have released a new single, Kebab Spider.

Within the opening few bars it's instantly recognisable as the duo, with a pulsing bassline and synth providing a 1990s dance and indie-influenced backing to Jason Williamson's deadpan spoken word delivery. He said:

“‘Kebab Spider’ The accumulation of torment for those that refuse to capitalise solely through mediocre channels and as a result are ejected back onto the concrete. Obscure and under the horror as a giant spider crawls out the crown of their small portion of street meat.”

The track is taken from the pair's new album, 'Eton Alive'. The follow up to 2017's 'English Tapas' is due out on February 22 through the band's own label, Extreme Eating.

Williamson and Andrew Fearn will support the new record with a marathon UK and Ireland tour, kicking off in Belfast on February 7 and concluding in Hitchin on May 11.

Head below to watch the video for Kebab Spider. It was directed by Roger Sargent, who has previously worked with the Libertines and the Vaccines, among many others.

Martha’s approach to pop music falls somewhere between kitchen sink realism and wild escapism.
