Slowthai Shares Video For Mura Masa-Produced Track Doorman

Monday, 07 January 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

Slowthai has kicked off 2019 with a dark, trippy and gripping video for his latest single.

Doorman was produced by Mura Masa and follows on from the Northampton MC's previous single, Rainbow, and his acclaimed recent EP, 'Runt'. The clip, meanwhile, pays tribute to British filmmaker Danny Boyle's Trainspotting and invites viewers to join Slowthai on a twisted and distorted night out. He said:

"I was at some yard in Chelsea after a night out and I saw 4.5 million pound paintings hanging on the wall and it made me sick… I went to the studio the next day and wrote Doorman. Doorman, let me in the door."

Mura Masa added:

"Slowthai is the embodiment of subversive and punk energy in UK rap. We knew we wanted to make something with a DIY, rebellious energy together, so we banged Doorman together in a few hours, kept all the original takes and let it be what it is. It's a record that challenges ideas about what rap can be, which I think the scene needs more of. I love it."

With his debut LP set for release later this year, Slowthai recently announced his Brexit Bandit Tour for the UK and Europe in March and April. Tickets are on sale now.

Bleached’s return is powered by a desire for change. ‘Don’t You Think You’ve Had Enough?’ is the first album that the sisters Clavin, Jennifer and Jessica, have recorded since deciding to get sober, and it’s also a bold attempt to fashion their winningly bratty brand of garage-rock into more expressive, sophisticated shapes.
