Bruce Springsteen Rarities And Unreleased Tracks To Feature On Blinded By The Light Soundtrack

Tuesday, 09 July 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

A handful of rare and unreleased tracks by Bruce Springsteen will feature on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Blinded By The Light.

12 Springsteen songs in total, including an unreleased studio version of I'll Stand By You, plus rare live renditions of The River and The Promised Land, as well as classics like Badlands, Hungry Heart and Thunder Road, are included on the coming-of-age film's accompanying record.

Springsteen originally wrote I'll Stand by You for 2001's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, but the studio opted not to include the ballad in the film, so this will be its first official release.

Directed by Gurinder Chadha and based on a true story, Blinded By The Light tells the story of a British teen of Pakistani descent in 1987 London who gets turned onto the Boss' music. It's set to hit cinemas on August 14, preceded by the CD and digital versions of the album on August 9, with a double LP edition set to follow on August 30.

Springsteen, meanwhile, released his latest album, 'Western Stars', in June.

There has always been a restlessness to Bruce Springsteen’s music. As he ambled from bar to bar in Asbury Park, it manifested in thousand-words-a-minute flights of fancy. Soon, he was taken by the road and its promise of escape. Driven on by bombast and the communal spirit of his live shows, the real world sometimes felt like it was out of sight around the next bend.
