Cultdreams have shared Not My Generation, the second single from their new album.
'Things That Hurt', the follow up to 2017's 'Seafoam' — which they put out under their previous moniker Kamikaze Girls, will arrive on August 16 via Big Scary Monsters.
The new shoegaze track finds guitarist and vocalist Lucinda Livingstone lyrically taking no prisoners, tackling everything from misogyny to politics, while still keeping it relatively personal — at one point admitting she wished she'd never written Kamikaze Girls' debut EP 'SAD'. In a Facebook post, the band said:
"Not My Generation is about being angry and frustrated about what you see in the world. It's about getting out of your own head, and realising everything outside of it is just as bad.
"It's almost a pledge or a hope that our next generation isn't going to continue to be racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, all of the things we see happening in our communities every day. Most of which are caused by privileged people in a position of power, over people of colour, queer people, trans people, people seeking refuge..."
Head below to watch the Not My Generation video, which was directed by Martyna Wisniewska, aka Gingerdope, and shot in and around a poppy field in Brighton.
Alongside the new single, the duo — completed by drummer Conor Dawson — have announced a new batch of UK and European shows for September. They also have a handful of headline UK shows in the diary for August, as well as an appearance at ArcTanGent festival.
