Simply Red Announce New Album 'Blue Eyed Soul', Share Funky First Single Thinking Of You

Thursday, 15 August 2019 Written by Helen Payne

Simply Red have announced a new album.

‘Blue Eyed Soul’, the group’s first record since 2015’s ‘Big Love’, is due for release on November 8. Frontman Mick Hucknall said of the release:

"At this stage of my career, I could do one of those dark reflective albums looking back on my life and all that kind of stuff that people tend to do at a certain age. But I thought sod that! I wanted to make something punchy. I want to have a good time.”

The news arrives with lead single Thinking Of You, a funky, disco-infused number full of brass instruments and danceable grooves.

Simply Red will play BBC Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park on September 15.

‘Blue Eyed Soul’ tracklist:

  1. Thinking of You
  2. Sweet Child
  3. Complete Love
  4. Take a Good Look
  5. Ring That Bell
  6. BadBootz
  7. Don’t Do Down
  8. Riding on a Train
  9. Chula
  10. Tonight

Lana Del Rey - Norman Fucking Rockwell! (Album Review)
Thu 05 Sep 2019
When Lana Del Rey’s Video Games attained viral status in 2011, it felt entirely plausible that her success would be a flash in the pan. Many critics (often male) derided her as a contrived, inauthentic pop star whose cinematic melancholia could not translate to long term appeal. Eight years and four albums later, they’ve been proven wrong about her longevity, and yet Del Rey’s multi-textured inauthenticity has flourished, and become a kind of defining brand. Sometimes you can be wrong and right at the same time.
