Thundercat Announces New Album 'It Is What It Is', Releases First Track Black Qualls

Thundercat has announced his new album.
Executive produced by the Los Angeles bassist with Flying Lotus, 'It Is What It Is' boasts a crew of collaborators, including Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Lil B, Kamasi Washington, BADBADNOTGOOD, Louis Cole and Zack Fox.
The 15-track follow-up to 2017's 'Drunk' is scheduled to land on April 3 via Brainfeeder Records. Head below for the first cut Black Qualls, which builds on a thick bass groove and features Steve Lacy of the Internet and funk icon Steve Arrington. Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat, said:
"This album is about love, loss, life and the ups and downs that come with that. It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, but at different points in life you come across places that you don’t necessarily understand… some things just aren’t meant to be understood."
Thundercat already has a North American tour scheduled for spring, kicking off in late February. Following that, he's lined up dates in Europe, including two UK shows in April. Tickets are on sale now.
