Lewis Capaldi scooped two Brit awards at the O2 Arena last night.

The Scottish singer-songwriter took home Best New Artist and Song Of The Year for his hit single Someone You Loved.

Meanwhile, Mastercard Album Of The Year went to Dave for last year’s ‘Psychodrama’. The South london rapper is the second artist to receive both the Brit and Mercury Prize for a record, after Arctic Monkeys made the achievement in 2006 with ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’. Foals won Best Group after releasing two LPs in 2019, ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost Parts 1 and 2’.

Mabel and Stormzy were awarded Female Solo Artist and Male Solo Artist, respectively, while Billie Eilish and Tyler, The Creator won International Female Solo Artist and International Male Solo Artist.

The Critics’ Choice Award has evolved into the Rising Star Award, which was announced in December. Celeste saw off competition from Beabadoobee and Joy Crookes to take home the gong, following in the footsteps of previous winners Sam Fender, Jorja Smith, Adele, Sam Smith, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding, Florence and the Machine, and Rag ’n’ Bone Man.

The awards categories were rejigged for 2020 to allow more performances on the night, which included Lizzo, Harry Styles, Capaldi, Billie Eilish, who performed the new Bond Theme No Time To Die, as well as the Faces rockers Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood who closed the show. Comedian Jack Whitehall hosted the event for his third year.
