5 Seconds Of Summer have released a new single, Wildflower.
The Oscar Görres-produced track is the last to be lifted from their new album, 'C A L M', prior to its arrival on Friday (March 27). It's accompanied by a homemade lyric video that was created from 10 hours of stop motion animation, 358 photos and 529 flowers.
The band co-wrote the song with Rami Yacoub and Geoff Warburton, who have worked with Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes, respectively. It wears its 1980s pop influence proudly and boasts an arena-sized chorus that begs to be sung back. Bassist Calum Hood said:
“We wanted to make the chorus kind of a choose-your-own-adventure, where some words are left out and then accentuated by these big stabs of synth. It lets everyone come up with their own interpretation, and fill in whatever they think those missing lyrics might be.”
The Australian quartet will support the record with the No Shame Tour, which will include shows in the UK, Ireland, Europe, North America and Australia throughout the year.
