Orlando Weeks Announces Debut Solo Album 'A Quickening', Shares New Single Blood Sugar

Tuesday, 14 April 2020 Written by Laura Johnson

Orlando Weeks has announced his debut solo album.

The former Maccabees frontman will release 'A Quickening' on June 12 via Play It Again Sam. It'll feature the previously released Safe In Sound and new track Blood Sugar.

The latter is a genre-bending track that plays with elements of indie and electronic music across a subdued yet complicatied soundscape that on occasion becomes overwhelming. Head below to check out its video.

Discussing how the record was inspired by the anticipation of becoming a father, Weeks said: “I was trying to find a course through something that happens all the time, but still feels exceptional.”

'A Quickening' tracklist:

  1. Milk Breath
  2. Blood Sugar
  3. Safe In Sound
  4. St. Thomas
  5. Takes A Village
  6. Moon’s Opera
  7. All The Things
  8. Blame Or Love Or Nothing
  9. None Too Tough
  10. Summer Clothes
  11. Dream
