Big Red Machine and Michael Stipe Release Studio Version of No Time For Love Like Now

Friday, 12 June 2020 Written by Huw Baines

R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe and Big Red Machine have released a studio version of their collaborative single No Time For Love Like Now.

The track made its bow in demo form earlier this year. Its arrival in this new iteration accompanies news that Big Red Machine—which brings together the National’s Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver—have been working on a number of songs. They released their self-titled debut back in 2018.

Alongside Stipe, No Time For Love Like Now features orchestration by Dessner's brother and Natonal bandmate Bryce. Check it out below.

“On a whim, I shared a folder of in-progress BRM sketches with Michael last year, and it was exciting when he really gravitated to a few of them,” Dessner told Rolling Stone. “Michael wrote the lyrics to No Time for Love Like Now last fall, but when the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic and social-distancing and self-isolation descended, they felt like they were written about this time all along and perhaps the message resonates especially now.”
