Future Islands Unveil New Single Moonlight

Tuesday, 15 September 2020 Written by Sophie Williams

Future Islands have shared a new single.

The third cut to be taken from the band’s forthcoming LP ‘As Long As You Are’, due on October 9, the woozy Moonlight is a slowly marching, introspective number that blossoms into minimal drums and twinkly guitar notes. It follows the previously shared Thrill and For Sure

The glimmering track arrives with an accompanying video, which follows Hollywood stars Matthew Gray Gubler and Callie Hernandez as they play out a budding romance. Frontman Samuel T. Herring said:

“Moonlight is a song about love in a depressive state. It’s about recognizing the holes in ourselves and recognizing the circular whole of others. Moonlight is about acceptance because that’s what love allows us all."

The American band’s last full-length release was 2017’s synth-heavy ‘The Far Field’.
