The Flaming Lips Unveil Video For Assassins Of Youth

The Flaming Lips have shared a video for Assassins Of Youth.
The track deals in strummed acoustic guitar tones and woozy electronic effects for an almost synth-pop affair. It features on the band's latest LP, 'American Head', which landed in September.
The clip, meanwhile, was directed by vocalist Wayne Coyne, with filming and editing handled by Blake Studdard for Atria Creative. It was shot during the Flaming Lips' recent socially distanced set in Oklahoma City where both the septet and members of the crowd were housed in inflatable bubbles.
The bubbles have often been used as part of the Lips' onstage repertoire since Coyne and the band first appeared encased in the plastic spheres at the Coachella festival in 2004. He said:
"Of course, our MAIN priority (when doing the performance for the music video) was making sure everyone was safe and all the health cautions were being enforced.
"I forgot about how exciting and fun and ridiculous it is to do a Flaming Lips show!!! I think the video shows it!!!"
The band recently confirmed a handful of rescheduled UK and Ireland gigs for July, including a new date at the O2 Forum Kentish Town and a headline appearance at WOMAD festival in Malmesbury on July 24. Tickets are on sale now.
