Tori Amos has released a new song, Speaking With Trees.
The track serves as the first taste of her new album, 'Ocean To Ocean', due out on October 29 via Decca Records. The LP was announced last week and follows 2017's 'Native Invader', though in 2020 she put out the 'Christmastide' EP.
A meld of classical piano and meandering guitar lines, the dramatic number finds the singer-songwriter turning to nature to help her through difficult times. She said:
"This record sits with you where you are, especially if you are in a place of loss. I am fascinated when someone has gone through a tragedy, and how they work through their grief. That is where the gold is. When somebody is actually at that place, thinking "I’m done", how do you reach that person? Sometimes it’s not about a pill, or a double shot of tequila. It’s about sitting in the muck together. I’m going to meet you in the muck."
Amos will support the record with a previously announced UK and European tour early in 2022. Tickets are on sale now.
