Band Of Horses Announce First Album In Five Years 'Things Are Great', Post New Single Crutch

Band Of Horses are readying their first album in over five years.
The long-awaited follow-up to 2016's 'Why Are You OK' is called 'Things Are Great' and will arrive through BMG on January 21.
To celebrate the news, the rock quintet have dropped the first single, Crutch, which deals in bright, jangly guitars that contrast with lyrics that reflect on tough times. Press play below.
Most of the songs on the band's sixth record were penned before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, with lead singer Ben Bridwell producing or co-producing each track, working alongside old collaborators, including Grandaddy's Jason Lytle, Dave Fridmann, and Dave Sardy, as well as teaming up for the first time with engineer Wolfgang "Wolfie" Zimmerman. Bridwell commented:
"I think like a lot of my songs, Crutch starts with something from my real life. Obviously Crutch means some of the things that I was dependent on. My relationship for one. I think I wanted to say, 'I've got a crush on you,' and I thought it was funny how relationships also feel like crutches. I feel like everybody has had a time when nothing goes right and you still have to carry on. I think that feeling hits you in this song even if you don’t know what the specifics are."
The LP marks the group's first since the departures of guitarist Tyler Ramsey and bassist Bill Reynolds. Later in October, they'll embark on a short run of US tour dates.
