Soft Cell And Pet Shop Boys Combine For New Single Purple Zone

Tuesday, 22 March 2022 Written by Jon Stickler

Soft Cell and Pet Shop Boys have teamed up for a joint single, Purple Zone.

Propelled by a thumping beat, the synth-pop duet was teased on social media earlier in 2022 and will feature on the former's fifth studio album, '*Happiness Not Included', due out on May 6. Soft Cell vocalist Marc Almond said:

"Working with the Pet Shop Boys was a pleasure, and this track is the perfect combination of us and them."

Dave Ball also commented on the song: "Purple Zone is probably our finest pop moment since the early 1980s."

Pet Shop Boys added: "We are thrilled to collaborate with such an inspirational duo as Soft Cell on this gorgeous song."

The new single arrives with a cheeky video featuring Almond as the driver of an ice cream van. Pet Shop Boys also appear.

Pet Shop Boys put out their most recent LP, 'Hotspot', in 2020. The rescheduled UK and European leg of their Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live Tour will take place this summer, followed by their co-headline trek of North America with New Order.
