Interpol Announce New Album 'The Other Side Of Make-Believe', Share First Single Toni

Interpol have announced a new album.
The follow-up to 2018’s ’Marauder’ is called ’The Other Side Of Make-Believe’ and will arrive on July 15 through Matador. It saw them working with producer Flood (Mark Ellis), and former co-producer Alan Moulder.
Alongside details of the record, the band have shared its first single, Toni, which interweaves Paul Banks’ understated vocals with distorted guitar and jangly keys to create a track that feels like it could fall apart at any moment, and therein lies its appeal.
The song arrives with a video that serves as the first instalment of a two-part dance film directed by Van Alpert, who said:
“I wrote a crazy idea that I felt was new for INTERPOL, a hyper-modern, cinematic dance film. A "Lover’s on the Run" story, with a classic cliffhanger ending. Dream job working for my all-time favorite band! Paul Banks ties everything together and elevated the concept, because he’s naturally a great actor, artist, and collaborator.”
Vocalist and guitarist Banks said:
“It was a blast working with Van Alpert on the video for our song Toni," said vocalist and guitarist Paul Banks. "We bonded over shared film inspiration as well as a passion for classic music videos by the likes of Glazer, Cunningham and Jonze. Van, in my opinion, is in the club with these legends; and it’s exciting to watch him build his own enduring body of work.”
Interpol have a busy few months ahead, with US shows lined up throughout the rest of spring, and a European tour following in the summer. The latter will include numerous festival appearances and two headline London shows at the Roundhouse in June. Tickets are on sale now.
