The Coral Return With New Single Wild Bird, Announce Plans To Release Two Albums In September

The Coral have announced two new albums with a new single.
The British folk-pop band will drop the first LP, 'Sea Of Mirrors', on September 8, with the second, 'Holy Joe's Coral Island Medicine Show', scheduled to arrive that same month, though a date is still to be confirmed.
Alongside the news, the band have shared the song Wild Bird, which marks their first new music since their 2021 album, 'Coral Island'. It's set to appear on the first of the two records, and offers a spaghetti-Western aesthetic, a theme that looks set to continue throughout the album. Frontman James Skelly commented on the song:
"Like most of The Coral’s best known songs you could pick out, it was written in about five minutes. Once the album concept was clear, this was us imagining the theme tune for an Italian western directed by Fellini with a Richard Yates-written script. It’s us asking ourselves: what would have happened if Lee Hazlewood had produced a Gene Pitney song written by Townes Van Zandt?"
Guests on the project include actor Cillian Murphy and Love guitarist Johnny Echols. Former The Coral member Bill Ryder-Jones has contributed to songwriting on 'Sea Of Mirrors', collaborating with the band for the first time since his departure in 2008.
The Coral will tour the UK in spring 2024, with an intimate evening of music and conversation with James Skelly and Nick Power. This summer, they'll support Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on Brighton Beach, alongside appearances at Splendour In Nottingham in July and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth in August.
