The Coral, are an English indie psychedelic band from Merseyside consisting of James Skelly, Paul Duffy, Nick Power, Ian Skelly and Paul Molloy, who replaced original Bill Ryder-Jones.
Formed in 1996, the band released their self-titled debut album in 2002, which reached #5 in the UK Album Chart and was nominated by the Mercury Prize. Their second album, ‘Magic and Medicine’, was released in 2003 and hit #1 in the chart. In 2004 they released, ‘Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker’, ‘The Invisible Invasion’ came out in 2005, and ‘Roots & Echoes’ was released in 2007. The following year Ryder-Jones left the band and the band released a singles collection. Their tenth album, ‘Butterfly House’, came out in 2010. ‘The Curse of Love’ was a surprise album that came out in 2014. The band’s latest album, ‘Distance Inbetween’ was released in March 2016. During the recording of this album Paul Molloy, of The Zutons, joined the band.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the Europe and Japan, as well as having supported the Arctic Monkeys and Manic Street Preachers, and played festivals such as Liverpool Sound City Festival.
The Coral have announced plans to tour the UK this autumn. The Merseyside quintet will be joined by guests She Drew The Gun at October shows in support of their upcoming LP, 'Move Through Dawn', which is set to arrive on August 10 through Ignition Records.
