The soft rock track explores mental health struggles and appears on the New York artist's latest album, 'Portals', which arrived in March. The clip, meanwhile, shows off her unique style and creativity, and was directed, conceived and costume designed by Martinez herself. She said:
"This is the first song I fully produced on my own. I remember screaming that chorus while crying, it felt like a weight I needed to get off of me. The weight of my anxiety, the weight of my brain. A void. A dark place where you are left alone with your own thoughts for introspection, in order to find the light within yourself."
Earlier in June, Martinez announced the UK and European leg of her Portals Tour, which will see her performing as the otherworldly alter ego creature, Cry Baby, as seen in the video. The trek will kick off in Stockholm, Sweden on October 29 and includes shows in London, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin in November. She has also Australia and New Zealand concerts scheduled for early 2024.
Tickets for the UK and Europe go on general sale at 2pm local time tomorrow (June 16), with tickets for Australia and New Zealand following at 3pm local time the same day.
The current North American leg will continue in Irving, Texas tonight (June 15).
