Neil Young will put out a previously unheard album next month.
The 10-track 'Oceanside Countryside' will arrive through Reprise Records on February 14, marking the latest release in his Analog Original Series (AOS). The original recording sessions ran between May and December 1977, prior to the release of 1978's similar country-folk inflected LP 'Comes A Time'. Three of the tracks, Goin' Back, Human Highway and Field of Opportunity, appear on both albums.
Available on vinyl for the first time, 'Oceanside Countryside' features some songs that appear on the CD of the same name in Neil Young's 'Archives Vol. III'. However, this tracklist is how the album was originally intended to unfold, featuring the original mixes on tape at the time of recording. Check out the record's cover art above and the tracklist below. Young explained:
"This analogue original album, recorded in 1977, was unreleased at the time. These songs are the original mixes done at the time of the recordings. I sang the vocals and played the instruments on 'Oceanside', in Florida at Triad studios and Malibu, at Indigo studio. I sang the vocals and recorded with my great band of friends at Crazy Mama's in Nashville on 'Countryside'. I hope you enjoy this treasure of an Analog Original recording as much as I do."
Last summer, the twice-inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released 'Early Daze', a collection of unearthed material from the early recording sessions of his long-time band, Crazy Horse. He also dropped the Young and Crazy Horse live record, 'Fu##in' Up', as a limited edition coloured vinyl for Record Store Day before a general release in April.
It was recently confirmed that Young will headline this year's Glastonbury Festival. Head here for details.
