Sam Fender has been announced as this year's ambassador for Record Store Day UK.
The North Shields singer-songwriter will release an exclusive six-track EP, 'Me And The Dog', featuring two unreleased songs, I'm Always On Stage and Empty Spaces, which were recorded during the sessions for his upcoming third album, 'People Watching'.
The limited edition 12" vinyl will be available over the counter only from participating shops on this year's Record Store Day. In addition to the two new tracks, it'll include fan favourites and songs never pressed onto vinyl before. Check out the tracklist below. Fender commented:
"It’s a complete honour to be asked to be the Ambassador for Record Store Day 2025. The importance of indie stores cannot be understated. Without them, we lose physical spaces for music fans to discover both their favourite new artists and to forge friendships with likeminded people.
"This year is an exciting one for me and the band with the release of our new album, 'People Watching'. We were so privileged to be able to work with the family of legendary North East photographer Tish Murtha and use her photography across the album’s artwork for all formats.
"The EP we’re releasing for Record Store Day is called 'Me And The Dog EP', which at one point was going to be the name of the new album, so it just feels right that it should have its own moment. We’ve included two songs that haven’t been released - I’m Always On Stage and Empty Spaces.
"Thanks so much to all the independent stores around the world who support us. Let’s all make sure we support them too."
Previous Record Store Day ambassadors include Kate Bush, The 1975, Taylor Swift, Sir Elton John and Noel Gallagher. Post Malone was recently confirmed as the global ambassador for this year's Record Store Day.
Record Store Day 2025 will take place on April 12, with over 270 small and independent shops set to take part. Head here for more details and to check out a full list of releases.
Fender recently shared a moving video for the title track of his new album, due out on February 21. The record also includes the singles Arm's Length and Wild Long Lie.
Last month, Fender was revealed as the first headliner for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, which this year will take place at Liverpool's Sefton Park in May. Tickets details are still to be confirmed.
He'll resume his People Watching Tour with shows in Europe and North America in the coming months, before his biggest headline show to date at London Stadium, and three hometown concerts at Newcastle's St. James' Park stadium in June. Tickets are on sale now. £1 from every ticket will be donated to the Music Venue Trust in support of grassroots venues.
Fender is also nominated for BRIT Awards in the Artist Of The Year and Alternative/Rock Act categories. Head here for a full list of nominations.
