Kae Tempest Returns With New Single Statue In The Square

Kae Tempest has returned with a new single, Statue In The Square.
Arriving via Island Records, the track finds the rapper, poet and playwright dropping hard-hitting lyrics with confident, rapid delivery over ominous hip hop production from Fraser T Smith. Tempest said:
"There is power in showing up for yourself and showing up for your people. I hope this song powers you up. I hope it moves you. Take courage my friends we got this."

Statue In The Square marks the Lewisham-based artist's first release since their 2022 album, and fourth overall, 'The Line Is A Curve', though they put out the Record Store Day-exclusive EP 'Nice Idea' in 2023 and collaborated with the Speakers Corner Quartet for the Geronimo Blues single that same year.
Tempest will headline this year’s BBC Radio 6 Music Festival in Manchester on March 29, and will play intimate shows in Bristol, Leeds and London either side of it. They'll also perform at Glastonbury Festival on June 29 and Deer Shed in Yorkshire on July 26, before supporting Fontaines D.C. at Cardiff Castle on July 30. Tickets are on sale.
