King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard Tease 'Phantom Island' With New Single Deadstick

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have shared another song from their upcoming LP. 

Serving up a danceable, bold and brassy, horn-filled groove, Deadstick marks the latest preview of 'Phantom Island', the prolific Australian band's 27th album to date, due out on June 13 via their own (p)doom Records.

Head below to view the song's accompanying video, which features a full-sized crashed plane that was created out of cardboard. It was directed by Guy Tyzak, who said:

"I started off wanting to create a frame that looked like a landscape painting with many different people and set pieces dotted about. Deadstick refers to when a plane propeller stops midflight so I decided to have a massive plane made out of cardboard crash land into a beautiful location. The song is big and chaotic so then I went about casting swing dancers and eccentric extras to fill the landscape."

Spanning 10 new songs made from tracks that didn’t make the final cut for last year's LP. 'Flight b741', the album was created with British historical keyboardist, conductor and arranger Chad Kelly. Frontman Stu McKenzie explained:

"He brings this wealth of musical awareness to his chameleon-like arrangements. We come from such different worlds – he plays Mozart and Bach and uses the same harpsichords they did, and tunes them the exact same way. But he's obsessed with microtonal music, too, and all this nerdy stuff like me."

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard first announced the new record last year, when the group also shared the project's title track. 

They have both orchestral and rave shows scheduled across Europe and the UK this autumn, following US dates in the summer and European gigs in the spring. Tickets are on sale now.
