Pulp Tease Upcoming Album 'More' With New Single Got To Have Love

Pulp have shared a new single from their upcoming LP.
Got To Have Love was originally penned back in 1999, in the time leading up to the release of their previous LP, 2001's 'We Love Life', but remained unfinished until recently, when the band and producer James Ford breathed new life into it for their new album. Introducing the song, frontman Jarvis Cocker said:
“Love is a word I was unable to say until I was approaching 40. I listened to love songs all the time but couldn’t use the word in real life.
"The words to this song are me having a word with myself about this state of affairs. I gave myself a real talking-to. I have now learnt how to say it whilst keeping a straight face.
"'You’ve got to have love'
Oh yes you have.
It’s a love song.
It’s also a banger."
Cocker conceived and edited the track's video, which uses footage of Northen Soul dancers from Tony Palmer’s 1977 film Wigan Casino. “I love dancing & this is the best footage of dancing I’ve ever seen!” added Cocker.
'More', their first new record in nearly 24 years, is due for release on June 6 and will also feature their previously shared single Spike Island. They'll support it with the You Deserve More Tour, which will head to arenas in Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham, Manchester and London between June 7 and 21.
They'll also headline Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival and Sheffield's Tramlines Festival in July, before a North American tour in September that concludes with two co-headline shows with LCD Soundsystem at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
