Babymetal and Slaughter To Prevail have teamed up for a new track, Song 3.
Serving up a fusion of the two bands' distinct styles—Babymetal's signature brand of kawaii metal and Slaughter To Prevail's deathcore riffage—the collaboration brings together the former's soaring, melodic vocals with the latter's aggressive guttural growls. Trivium's Matt Heafy also plays the shamisen throughout the track.
It'll appear on Babymetal's collab-heavy new album, 'Metal Forth', due out through Capitol Records on June 27. It'll also feature on Slaughter to Prevail’s upcoming third album, 'Grizzly', out on July 18 via Sumerian Records.
The follow-up to 2023's 'The Other One' will also include the previously shared singles From Me To U featuring Poppy, Ratatata with Electric Callboy, and Metali!! with Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello. It also boasts contributions from Spiritbox, Polyphia, and Bloodywood.
Slaughter To Prevail previously teased the follow-up to 2021's 'Kostolom' with Russian Grizzly In America, Conflict, Viking, 1984, Behelit and Kid Of Darkness.
Song 3 arrives ahead of Babymetal's huge show at the O2 Arena in London this Friday (May 30), which will see them become the first Japanese group to headline the iconic venue. They'll also embark on their biggest North American tour to date this summer, featuring support from Black Veil Brides, Jinjer and Bloodywood. Tickets are on sale.
Babymetal also have touring plans laid out for their 15th anniversary year, as shown via a "legend map" on their official website. Dates and venues are still to be announced.
UPDATE June 11, 2025: The album release date has been pushed back for a second time. It will now arrive on August 8.
