Kula Shaker have released a new single, Broke As Folk.

Offering a return to their signature blend of psychedelia and folk influences, the track serves up jangly guitars over warm Hammond organ tones and a driving groove.

Penned by the band — vocalist-guitarist Crispian Mills, bassist Alonzo Bevan, drummer Paul Winter-Hart and organist Jay Darlington — and produced by Peter Miles at Devon's Middle Farm Studios, it's described by Mills as, "a song for everyone who didn’t fly in to Jeff Bezos's wedding, who’s not the 1%."

"The world is broke and has been for a while," he continued. "So this is about all that. It’s also about counting one's blessings, being grateful for the spiritual joys that money can’t buy. Like friends and family and foraging for mushrooms. It’s also got a really cool organ solo by Jay, which is what the world needs right now."

It follows the band's April single Charge Of The Light Brigade, and arrives as they wrap up work on their eighth studio album, the follow-up to 2024's 'Natural Magick', their highest charting album in 25 years.

Kula Shaker will play Lakefest in Ledbury this Saturday (August 7), and Beautiful Days in Devon next weekend, before heading to North America in September for headline shows and dates supporting The Dandy Warhols. Head here for details. Tickets are on sale now.
