Tame Impala Announces Fifth Album 'Deadbeat', Unveils Video Feat. Joe Keery For New Single Loser

Tame Impala, the psychedelic music project of Kevin Parker, has released a new song, Loser.
The hypnotic slow-burner blends funk-inspired guitar riffs with dreamy synths and arrives with a Sam Kristofski-directed video featuring pop star and Stranger Things actor Joe Keery (aka Djo). It follows Parker's July single, End Of Summer, a seven-minute acid-house-influenced offering.
Both tracks are set to appear on a new Tame Impala album, 'Deadbeat', due out through Columbia Records on October 17. The pre-order website describes the LP as, "a collection of really intense club-psych tracks showcasing some of his most catchy songwriting yet, transforming Tame Impala into a kind of futuristic rave group."
It goes on to say: "'Deadbeat' feels like it comes from an artist who's really leveled up, bursting with fresh energy for experimentation. There are 12 songs made with a new approach to spontaneity from someone known for their perfectionism. This shows in a distinct minimalism and crunch in many tracks, along with important details, sounds, and textures that give the music an exciting new dimension, plus a more varied and playful vocal range than ever before."
Parker has also scheduled a Tame Impala tour in the US that starts with two dates at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on October 31 and November 1. After that, they'll hit Chicago and Austin, before wrapping things up in California with two shows in Inglewood, and single dates in Oakland and San Diego. Tickets go on general sale at 12pm local time on September 12.
Parker has kept busy since the release of his latest album, 2020's 'The Slow Rush', collaborating with a number of artists, including Thundercat, Dua Lipa, and Justice, with whom he scooped his first Grammy Award for their collaborative track Neverender.
