Leigh-Anne has teamed up with Jamaican super producer Rvssian for a new standalone single.
Written with Grammy Award-winner Theron Thomas, known for his work with Beyoncé, Rihanna and Doja Cat, Friends is rooted in reggae and dancehall and serves up a breezy, Caribbean pop sound produced by Rvssian. Head below to view the track's accompanying video, directed by DIFTY. Leigh-Anne said:
"Friends is one of those tracks that you can't help but vibe and move too. It’s produced by Rvssian and built on the iconic Gogo Riddim, so straight away it had that undeniable energy. I’ve loved working with Rvssian, we’ve got another track together on my album and during one of our sessions, he mentioned this record written by Nija and Theron that he wanted to hear me on. He played me the demo and I fell in love with it instantly. I went in, made it my own and I instantly loved it. This one really captures that sweet spot where pop and bashment blend perfectly. I’ve always loved bringing my own pop stamp to Caribbean inspired sounds, and this track encapsulates exactly how those worlds can live together.
"The song takes me back to when I’d just learned to drive me and my girls would pile into the car and head down to London just to party. That carefree vibe, the laughter, the love it’s all there in Friends. At its heart, the song is about the people who truly show up for you, the ones who’ve got your back no matter what and learning to spot who doesn’t. For me, it comes from growth. I’ve been through enough to know energy doesn’t lie, and now I’m surrounded by people who really see me and ride for me. That's what this track truly celebrates."
The song marks the first joint project between Leigh-Anne and Rvssian, with their next collaboration set to appear on the vocalist's debut solo album, 'My Ego Told Me To', due out on February 20. She previously teased the record with the singles Dead And Gone, Been A Minute, and Burning Up.
Following the record's release, Leigh-Anne will embark on a UK and European tour in the spring. Tickets are on sale now.
