A new documentary about Courtney Love will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
Antiheroine is co-directed by Edward Lovelace and James Hall, with production by Julia Nottingham, founder of acclaimed production company Dorothy St. Pictures.
The film will offer an intimate look at the polarising '90s icon, featuring appearances from her Hole bandmates Melissa Auf der Maur, Eric Erlandson and Patty Schemel, along with Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. The promo also teases Love's long-awaited solo album, hinting it could arrive next year.
"Singer, songwriter, and actor Courtney Love has long had an impact on rock and pop culture," reads a post on the Dorothy St. Pictures Instagram. "Now sober and set to release new music for the first time in over a decade, Courtney is ready to reveal her story, unfiltered and unapologetic."
Love's most recent solo album is 2004's 'America's Sweetheart', though she released 'Nobody's Daughter' under the Hole moniker in 2010. In 2019, she contributed a song tilted Mother to the soundtrack for the 2020 gothic horror film The Turning.
Love will also appear in Broken English, a film about the late Marianne Faithfull that will also make its US debut at Sundance and features contributions from Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Jehnny Beth, Suki Waterhouse, and Beth Orton.
Also premiering is The Moment, the A24 film "based on an original idea by Charli XCX", and The Best Summer, which features footage of Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Pavement, Rancid, Beck and Bikini Kill filmed at the 1995 Summersault festival in Australia.
Sundance Film Festival will take place between January 22 and February 1 in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah. Head here for more details.
